HI-FI Corporation East London - dishonest.
On 08/01/2014 I purchased a Samsung V350 5i notebook from HI-FI Corporation in East London. The machine was pre-loaded with Windows 8. Cost was R7849.90 Within 2-3 weeks the machine refused to "start - up". It was returned to HI-FI Corp for attention. When collected, I was informed that it had been re-formatted, as the Windows 8 program was "faulty" Within a month, the problem was repeated. Again, re-formatted - all work and downloads lost. Even though the machine had been purpose - purchased, it proved to be so unreliable, that it was being used less and less, with a desktop PC being used instead. Some weeks later, the the problem was repeated. HI-FI Corp had again formatted the disc, and upgraded the Windows program to Windows 8/2. Few months passed, before the problem reappeared. On 28./11/2014, machine returned to HI-FI Corp (Marco ). I was informed that the "motherboard" had been replaced under the 2 year warranty by Samsung. Upon collection, the keyboard appeared loose. My complaint was largely ignored by the service staff. On 15/04/2015 - same problem. Heinrich of HI-FI Corp booked the machine in " not booting up " on job card. I demanded that Samsung h/o be engaged, with a request to replace the machine with a new one. I was told that my Notebook would be sent to Samsung, along with my request for replacement. I would be informed of Samsung's response. In the mean time, the motherboard had been "upgraded with a new, better unit. 1, 2 , 3 weeks passed - no news. On visiting HI-FI Corp, I was told that Samsung had not yet made a decision, and the machine was still with them. I would be called with a decision. This model had been superseded, which was causing a delay. We were moving to Strand, in the western cape soon, and I had to retrieve my machine before leaving. When I called at HI-FI Corp - on a Saturday - a service person with whom I had not dealt previously, was on duty. This person told me that the machine had never been sent to Samsung, - it had been on a shelf with them for the past month or so. Convinced that Windows 8/2 - with all updates was the problem, I downloaded Windows 10, during a "working session of the machine", which was not a common occurrence!! 29/05/2015 the CD would not work. It was taken to HI-FI Corp, in Somerset Mall. (Stevens GG booked it in - again ), CD not responding on the job-card. The machine continued to boot-up intermittently, but at times, it could be coxed into life, with considerable effort. As it was so unreliable, it was eventually used less and less, and was shelved for months, at a time. Being convinced that the new Windows 10 - now loaded in desperation - was the problem. I grew to hate Microsoft for their poor products............ In February 24 2018, the machine died completely. Being well out of warranty, I took it to Incredible Connection for attention. A day later, upon calling for it, the technician (Nigel ), asked me who had worked on the PC previously. I told him the history. I was then informed, that upon opening the machine, he had found that the keyboard - which has a number of clips to hold it in place, had been broken - bits of the keyboard were floating around inside, along with a loose ***** or two. Some *****s were missing, but the biggest problem was that wiring had been poorly repaired, using insulation tape. In time, this tape had dried out and lost it,s adhesive properties . Loose wiring was now touching ; this rudimentary repair, with broken keyboard stuck down with double-sided tape, had resulted in a "short circuit". The mother board( which appeared to be the original one ) had burned out, and the machine was now junk. It was suggested that I throw it away, and purchase a new machine. I told him that I could not believe that Samsung would produce such poor workmanship. Thereupon, I was then shown a "sticker" on the inside of the machine, which reads TTS repairs and services , East London, - along with their telephone no. It therefore appears that Samsung never saw this machine, - it was repaired locally. Further, it seems that HI-FI Corporation East London staff had **** to over and over and over again. What now?
