HI FI Corp has Worse, misleading financial services department

I am not even sure if this is worth complaining about but if I can just serve as a warning for other consumers I have reached my goal. Our TV recently packed up and we decided we had to replace but a decent tv does not come cheap and we opted to go the credit route. I would think by todays standard this should be easy and most service providers is rather fast and efficient. We decided to go the route of HIFI *******ion! We apply only and a couple of hours later we have a response and I sum this response up but have the mails to prove this: WO WOW WOW, you have been approved for R30 000 credit, bring your ID, Latest payslip and bank statement and come and finalise the application. It even states the offer is valid for 7 days. So this is what we did the next day. Took the required docs for finalization. Now I have to mention the following, it doesn’t state pre approved or presents the idea that they validate first but knowing finance companies this is what we expected. Purely working on their mail, if I prove what I said is true it is approved. They take the documents and one of the salary amounts id lower than the other which we explain to them and they said instore being HIFI corp Brakpan, they will send this but it might be a problem. I told them to then use the smaller amount even though there is 2 following salaries that is inline with the payslips provided. They submit all paperwork and the next day, the Friday the 13th I get a call from the store saying it is all good, they overridden the salary issue and will use the bigger amount. We could come in, finalise the quote, which will be sent for authorization to release the goods. Again after work we go to the store. We submit all items we want to buy and we then end up signing a lot of paperwork, some was life policies in the case of death and who knows what ever else like you normally do with any credit application. You sign your life away… We would then have our stuff the Saturday… Saturday I get a call to say now they want a letter of appointment??? Now I asked why now? Why is this not requested from the word go during validations? No one has an answer but we get this sent to us from work and of we go to submit. Monday goes by, no answer. Tuesday I get a call, we have to resubmit the ENTIRE deal at the lower salary…again!!!!! My issue is as follows, Why send a mail saying APPROVED but it is not, Why all the run around and cant they just say what they need? Why create the impression it is approved, sign paperwork just to change the process or the outcome the whole time!!! Surely this is not legal and not fair practice. Looking at the consumer protection act one of the items we are protected against and I quote the website: RIGHT TO PROTECTION AGAINST FALSE, MISLEADING OR DECEPTIVE REPRESENTATIONS. • Suppliers are not permitted to provide false, deceptive or misleading representations regarding services and products. • It is not permitted to use innuendo, ambiguity or exaggeration when referring to products or the benefits thereof.

This is false advertising and misleading not to mention can be used for ********** activities in future! We signed paperwork and got no copies nor any goods either. In our book we want to know was is declined or approved and how do you accept a certain situation and then just go and change it again? We didn’t force anything, they had all the chance to review and approved or decline and we were under the impression all is in order and we are good to go. In all my life I have never seen this, Either an institution approve or the decline? To worsen matters, I phone Hifi *******ions head office and laid a complain. The consultant take the complain against the wrong store and it was laid as a problem with the store service and I never even mentioned the store they laid the complain against nor was the problem with the store but with the financial services!!! I want to know what is to be done with ???
