Hi Fi Corp Advertising a Samsung Cellphone for the Wrong Price

<p>Hi Fi Corp sends me an e-mail today with their specials.</p> <p>I decide to view their specials online, i am specifically looking at their range of cellphones.</p> <p> </p> <p>one cellphone stood out, a "SAMSUNG GALAXY J1 SMART CELLPHONE LTE SM-J120F BLACK" which was advertised for the price of R229.00 and written in a red circle on top of the cellphone image "SAVE R2200" i couldnt believe my eyes!! </p> <p> </p> <p>i thought this was to good to be true as the retail price of this cellphone is around R2500, so i decided to order x2 cellphones for the total of R401.75, i was skeptical to pay online as i thought this might be a ****. So i decided to play it safe and rather use the option of "Ordering online and paying in store" later today.</p> <p> </p> <p>about 5 minutes after my order i received a confirmation of my order via e-mail. I doubled check my order again online and noticed that the advert is no longer online.</p> <p> </p> <p>Still in shock i decided to call their Southgate branch on ********** to confirm my order, i spoke to one of their agents who took my order number and asked to call me back.</p> <p> </p> <p>about 10 minutes later the branch manager calls me, and tells me that she has bad news for me. She said the advert was placed in error and therefore they cannot sell me the Cellphone. She would have given me the phone had a "purchased online"</p> <p> </p> <p>I wasn't even given the option to purchase atleast ONE of the phones at the advertised price. i also wouldn't have been informed of the so called "error" had i not called in to confirm if this deal is legit or not.</p> <p> </p> <p>According to the consumer right No. 5 "Suppliers are not permitted to mislead consumers in respect of pricing"</p> <p> </p> <p>According the consumer right No. 4 "Supplier are required to specify the duration of any promotions in catalogues or brochures, failing which consumers have the right to PURCHASE THE GOOD AT SPECIFIED PRICES" and "Consumers have the right to demand paying the lower price for goods displaying two varying prices - Suppliers are not permitted to charge consumers the higher price for the same goods"</p> <p> </p> <p>i am highly dissapointed and deeply saddend by this as i always purchase my electronic items at Hi Fi, and for them to dissapoint such a loyal customer today is quite sad. Especially about the fact that i wasnt even given the opportunity to purchase atleast 1 phone for the advertised price.</p> <p> </p> <p>if anyone is out there who can assist me, please call me on ********** </p> <p> </p> <p>thanking you in advance</p> <p>ML Miles</p>
