Faulty appliance refused to be booked in

Hi-Fi Corporation is refusing to book my Defy microwave under 2-year warranty due to lost till slip

On about September 2023/2024 I purchased a Defy Microwave from Hi-Fi Corp The Glen

The microwave has developed a fault of switching on but does not heat the food

I took it back to Hi-Fi Corp to book it in for warranty repairs. They took it in but refused to assist me to send it off for the repairs because I lost my original till slip.

This is unacceptable for 2 reasons:

1. The microwave is still under warranty. Defy ,Appliances provides a 2-year warranty from date of purchase on microwave ovens against defects in workmanship and material. As I bought mine last year or previous year it is well within the warranty period

2. A till slip is not the only proof of purchase. The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 does not require an original slip. Hi-Fi Corp can trace the sale on their system using my phone number / name / ID / card number. I can also provide my bank statement clearly showing payment to Hi-Fi Corporation on that date as alternative proof of purchase. I am simply asking Hi-Fi Corp to fulfil their legal obligation to accept alternative proof of purchase and book my microwave in for assessment and repair under the Defy 2-year I've been waiting since June already. They are sitting with my microwave in their store

Thank you.
