Buyer Beware: Hisense 65-inch TV from HiFi Corporation - A Recipe for Frustration

Let me preface this by saying I was initially thrilled with my purchase of a 65-inch Hisense TV from HiFi Corporation. The price was attractive for the size, and the picture quality in the store looked decent enough. Unfortunately, that initial excitement has rapidly devolved into utter frustration and regret, all thanks to a faulty TV and a less-than-satisfactory resolution process.

From almost day one, this TV has been problematic. It suffered from a frustrating and intermittent power issue. At random times, pressing the power button would be met with nothing but a blank screen. The only way to resurrect it from its digital slumber was to physically unplug it from the wall, wait a dramatic pause, and then plug it back in. This annoying ritual became a regular part of our TV viewing experience, a constant niggle in the back of our minds – "will it switch on this time?". We hoped it was just a minor quirk, something we could live with, maybe even something that would magically resolve itself. Oh, how wrong we were.

Then came Saturday, the 1st of February. We were actually enjoying a movie, oblivious to the impending doom of our entertainment system, when mid-scene, the screen went black. Just like that. Silence. Nothing. Unplugging and replugging, the usual temporary fix, proved utterly useless this time. The TV was dead. Completely and utterly lifeless. Our 65-inch Hisense brick had officially retired.

Now, the faulty TV itself is frustrating enough, but what has truly pushed this experience into the realm of nightmare is the absolute hell it has been trying to get HiFi Corporation to honour their responsibility and exchange this clearly defective product. The customer service has been appalling. Endless phone calls, being passed from department to department, promises of callbacks that never materialize, and a general air of indifference to our plight. It feels like we're being deliberately stonewalled, hoping we'll just give up and disappear.

We purchased this TV expecting a decent viewing experience from a reputable retailer. Instead, we got a faulty product and a masterclass in terrible customer service. This isn't just about a broken TV; it's about the complete lack of support and the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by HiFi Corporation.

Pros:

...Honestly struggling to find any. It was 65 inches and displayed pictures when it worked... intermittently.

Here's a summary of my negative experience:

Faulty Hisense TV: Intermittent power issues culminating in complete failure.

Disappointing HiFi Corporation After-Sales Service: Unhelpful and dismissive when seeking assistance for a faulty product purchased from their store. Directed to handle warranty directly with the manufacturer.

Frustrating Hisense Warranty Process: Slow, bureaucratic, and lacking in urgency. Extended delays in repair and poor communication.

Inconvenience and Time Wasted: Numerous phone calls, emails, waiting for technicians, and ongoing delays have consumed significant time and energy.

In conclusion, my experience with this 65-inch Hisense TV purchased from HiFi Corporation has been overwhelmingly negative. While the initial price point might be tempting, the potential for product faults and the ensuing headache of dealing with inadequate after-sales service from both HiFi Corporation and Hisense is simply not worth it. I would strongly advise potential buyers to consider other brands and retailers with a proven track record of quality products and reliable customer support. This purchase has been a costly lesson in "you get what you pay for," and in this case, I paid for a large-screen TV that is now more of a burden than a source of entertainment.
