Bad customer service and consumer protection act not followed

I bought a canon printer in may this year only to now discover it is not working. I went to hi fi Corp eastgate today and they refuse to replace it as they state it is only under warranty and that this is company policy according to a very arrogant Indian lady there.my question is that hi fi Corp policy is not in line with the consumer protection act.this is not the first time I have bought something from then and later when it is not working there is issues about the item. I bought this printer for work purposes a and for my child school projects which now I am at a disadvantage for 21days all I wanted is for them is to replace the printer for me and they refuse me.this is pathetic and bad custoner service.i will never purchase nor recommend hi fi corp to anyone .
