Bad customer service

On Friday, 5/08/2016 I went to Hi-Corporation, Southgate to purchase a Mini Kitchen which was R999.00. They didn’t have any in stock so i then opted to take the one on display and requested a discount. The guy that was assisting me basically refused to go speak to the manager that was in charge and told me she will say no as she has an angry attitude. I waited about 30 minutes thinking he is going to speak to her only to find he left me to do his own things. He discussed it with his other colleagues and it seemed like my request was a joke to them as they spent most of the time walking around laughing about it than actually helping me. Eventually when he went to speak to the manager I could hear her from her office screaming at the employees from the top her lungs. When she came out I went to speak to her as she came out charging from her office shouting. She then granted me a R50 discount. Which was not written on my receipt and I had to wait again for them to go back to her t write it down. The guy that was assisting me left me in the middle of the sale and I asked him, where is he going and said someone else will help me as its 6pm and he has knocked off and he just walked way. While I was waiting to pay for my Mini Kitchen, Kettle and Iron the one employee said she needs to go to the bathroom and we will have to wait before she can wrap up the Mini Kitchen. Again I had to wait while the employee went about doing her own thing before wrapping it up.

My experience in the shop was so horrific especially being laughed at by the employees as clearly their customers mean nothing to them and they don’t care about customer service as long as they are having a good time in the store waltzing around doing nothing besides helping customers.

I had decided I will let it slide until yesterday, 10th August 2016.

Tuesday 9th August 2016 I went back to the same store that treated me like a joke thinking it will be better this time. I went to purchase a fridge. After waiting around for AGAIN nothing as I thought the guy was placing the order he was busy with other things. I then went and told him to make it for collection as R250 for delivery is just too much on top of this bad service. While I was waiting to pay other customers were complaining that we wait too long to make a payment. There’s about 5tills in that shop but on one or two are operating even when there are a lot of customers, why is that?

Yesterday I went to collect the fridge and I arrived at 5:45pm only to find the doors closed. According to my understanding the shop should only close at 6pm so there was actually no need for me to beg to be let in as I was actually still on time. If I arrived at 6:01pm then I would understand why I was being denied access.

I then realized that I forgot my receipt for collection, diffidently a mistake on my side. The lady looked for the photocopy that they had made and it was not in file. So basically paper work at the shop just goes missing over night or they are so disorganized that they don’t have a proper filing system. They could not find a copy of something that was purchased THE DAY BEFORE, not two days before or a week. I then asked for 20 minutes to go fetch the receipt and I’ll be back as I could see they were still busy with other customers which means by the time I get back staff will still be there. She said I should go speak to the store manager. There was a guy in charge and I explained to him and he said there’s nothing he can do and i said but how do you lose a copy from something bought yesterday, what if I was ****** and I had lost my receipt does this mean I wouldn’t get my fridge? He explained customers are not allowed to go in and out when they are closed due to risk purposes. First of all they closed before the time they were actually suppose to close. He said he needs to call the regional manager for permission. How does a store manager need permission from a regional manager to just allow me to come back in 20 minutes. I told him to leave it and I’ll come back today because such a simple discussion was turned into a big deal all because they actually DID NOT want to assist me and were rushing for home, why would employees go the extra mile for customers and treat us with respect when they have such bad managers?

How does Hi-Fi Corporation appoint a store manager that does not know how to make decisions? How do you also have a manager that screams at employees and employees are scared off? Why do you have staff that treats the store like a play ground?

In one weekend I spent R4400 in that shop and I’m not happy, I feel like my money to the drain because of the way I was treated.

I would like these issues to be addressed as soon as possible. I really regret going to the shop but I had no choice as it was the closest to me.

Please assist with the above complain.

Thank you.
