Pathetic customer service and ********* saleman

Timothy @ Hyundai in Milnerton Cape Town sold a 2019 vehicle to my mother in 2020. He did not explain to her factory service plan that the vehicle came out with. Instead, he mislead her by selling a "3yrs service/maintenance plan." My mom being a woman, calculated that she could then take her vehicle in 3 times over a period of 3yrs...2021, 22, 23. She definitely does not drive even close to 15000km a year. On Wednesday, 8th March 2023, she took in her vehicle for a service. They booked it in, took the service book, stamped the proof of service book, then called my mom to say "sorry, your maintenance plan expired last year, your service will now cost you R 4600..." (keep in mind they never told my mom this at anytime before and they already stamped the book confirming proof of service. This salesman(Timothy) sold my mother the vehicle with only the remaining of the 45000km. The vehicle already had on 14000km. He explained to her 45000km is also equivalent to 3yrs. He mislead her to think it's 3yrs from the time she bought the vehicle. Never did he mention it's the remainder of the 3yrs.

When I went with my mother to Hyundai Milnerton on Friday, 10th March, the service manager simply shrugged his shoulders, said sorry there's nothing they can do and that the service book is null and void. So their stamp for proof of service means absolutely nothing actually! He, the service manager (think it's Ruan) reckons my mother, the client, should have asked the necessary questions 🤯... WTH?? What are the necessary questions? How does a elderly woman know what the necessary questions are? Is it not the responsibility of the salesman to truthfully provide this information upfront and allow the client to then decide based on the information provided?? Or has it all just boiled down to making a sale and getting commission?? ***** the next person!
