HGTS Bus Company accident complaint
This review is a complaint regarding a traffic accident involving one of the HGTS buses and the subsequent unprofessional handling of this matter by HGTS Bus Company. Incident Details On the 4th of April 2025, I was involved in a collision with one of your buses at Robert Sobukwe and Tinie Mayer Bypass intersection. While both vehicles were positioned in lanes turning right, your bus driver moved into my lane as the light turned green and struck the right side of my vehicle, damaging both doors and preventing me from exiting through the driver's side. The driver acknowledged fault at the scene, stating he "did not see me because he was focusing on traffic" and that "he was in a hurry to drop off students at CPUT." Despite causing the accident, he failed to exchange insurance details or contact information and immediately drove away, leaving me stranded with a damaged vehicle. Please see the attached pictures. Failures in Protocol and Professionalism The company's handling of this matter has been characterized by gross negligence and unprofessional conduct: 1. Driver Negligence Failed to report the accident to management or police. Is this not suspicious and suggests something to hide? Left the scene without providing required information Admitted distraction and rushing while operating a commercial vehicle 2. Management Deception Fleet Manager André initially claimed to be investigating "footage" from the bus When pressed for evidence, stated footage was "with the investigator". Outsurance subsequently mentioned that no cameras exist on the buses, despite the manager saying that we cannot have access to the footage. If the footage does not exist, then what is this footage he mentioned. This deliberate misrepresentation constitutes *****ulent obstruction 3. Systemic Issues Fleet Manager stated "you can't trust these drivers," revealing awareness of driver reliability issue Admitted that your company experiences frequent accidents No accountability measures appear to exist for unreported incidents Current Status The insurance claim is now stalled due to the company's failure to provide truthful information and evidence. We have personally tried to get access to footage, but the traffic camera footage is unavailable as the system was offline during the incident. The company's apparent policy of denying responsibility unless third parties provide their own evidence is legally and ethically indefensible. The expectation that individuals must retain private legal counsel to address clear-cut cases of your drivers' negligence creates an unconscionable barrier to justice. The pattern of behavior demonstrated—driver negligence, management deception, and systematic avoidance of accountability—suggests a corporate culture that prioritizes cost avoidance over public safety and legal responsibility.
