HP not admitting assembly issue on ENVY laptop

One of my HP Envy notebook hinges de-laminated from the inside of the rear cover, and broke the display from the inside. I regard this as a factory fault as there is no way my usage could have caused this fault and contacted the HP Support office in Cape Town at both the *** and *** numbers. From there you are transferred - by the accent, overseas - and the outcome was that HP passed the buck and recommended that I take the unit back to a retailer and complain there. However, the 1-year warranty had expired and the retailer where I bought it is not under any obligation to take on the complaint.

An HP Case Number *** was allocated to this issue, but with the response above, was of no use. The Ensure Services repair quote exceeded the original purchase price of the notebook.

So, even though the Laptop itself would get 5 stars from me - as would a number of other of their products I have - the HP support scores zero.
