Weird Unique Rental Policy Not Explained.

I rented from Hertz for the first time. When I got the check out counter the attendant only notified me that if I got a speeding fine I would have to pay for them. This was not unusual too as it is the same policy that all the rental companies have in South Africa. But what she did not tell me was that in addition to that Hertz would cancel your rental contract if you did speed and would force you to return the car with a warning. So you can imagine my surprise when I got a phone while driving that told me my contract was cancelled, I would have at least expect that they would give you a warning call if their truly a company that cares about customer service. When I protested as I was on my way to visit a sick relative, I was immediately threatened that a vehicle recovery company would be sent out and I would be arrested like a ********. The person on the phone then assured me I would get all my money back and only be charged for the one-day rental. I had booked the car on the unlimited mileage policy, imagine my surprised they now charged me for the kilometres I drove at 2 rands a kilometre then charged me a one-way fee even though they forced me to return the car to a different branch then I rented. They also charged me for damage I do not remember causing but unfortunately cannot prove I did not cause so I accept that as I should have done a proper check at the airport when I took the car but I was in a rush. Hertz should really explain to customers this policy as no other rental company in SA has this policy to my knowledge, and at least should give a person a warning phone call. They did send SMSes to say the speed limit was exceeded but I mean they cannot expect a person to drive and read SMSes at the same time. All in All, I just want to refund for the kilometres and the one-way fee. And I will never use Hertz again and do not recommend anyone does who is interested in a company that does business transparently. I am not excusing speeding, but if a company has an unusual practice that is not common they should at least explain it to customers.
