Taking forever to pay back the car deposit

I do not understand why it takes more than a week to refund a car deposit when everything is in order. It's been 12 days since I returned the car, and I'm still waiting for my deposit to be paid back. Imagine if I needed to hire another car. Where am I supposed to find another R9k for a deposit!
