No reply to emails: Fuel charges on a car returned full

<p>I sent an email to ********** on 1 August and 48 hours no reply has been received. Perhaps better change of a reply via HelloPeter.</p> <p><em>A copy of my email below:</em></p> <p>I received my invoice for my recent car rental from Hertz - the Renault Captur 1.2T.</p> <p>When I collected the vehicle, the lady said that I can either return the car full or they will refill it and charge the costs. I decided to refuel the car at the Port Elizabeth Airport's fuel station, a stone's throw away from the car rental returns area. On the invoice received it was said that the car was 6/8 full and I was charged for the 1/4 fuel.</p> <p>Looking at the fuel consumption, the additional charges is totally impossible and cannot be correct. </p> <p>The liters used with my refuel and yours:<br />* The car was about 1/4 before the refuel, bringing it to 32.52 liters ********** - R402.27) to fill it up.<br />* The invoice claims another 2/8 had to be fueled, using the fuel price in PE 12.06 liters (R149.15/12.37).<br />* This brings the total to 44.58 liters - being almost the full fuel capacity for this vehicle (45 liters).<br />So clearly this cannot be the case.</p> <p>I'll also use the fuel consumption as proof that this is wrong.</p> <p>* I've also obtained the claimed fuel consumption from Renault's website - this being 5.4l/100km. We all know the claimed fuel consumptions are rarely obtained.<br />* As we travelled 442km, this would in a perfect world be 23.87 liters.<br />* Using the liters I refueled, this brings the fuel consumption to 7.36l/100km - quite a bit more than the claimed.<br />* Including the liters additionally billed, the fuel consumption is 10l/100km - considerably more than claimed, comparable to 4x4 bakkies!</p> <p> </p> <p>The additional fuel charge should therefore be reversed - unless you can proof this.</p>
