Money taken from account without permission - RA***8
Fuel charge taken from account after the car was filled up to the brim with fuel. Station 200m away from handover point at OR Tambo. They charged an additional R132.12. Some simple match will expose this part of their *****: The tested (to Eu standards) fuel economy of a Toyota Corolla Quest is 6.6l/100km, also declared by Toyota SA. I apparently received it full (it has a 55l tank, also declared on EU standards). I used the car for a total of 427km, which simple math will tell you would work out to 28.182litres of fuel used. I filled it with 30.89 litres, right into the filler neck. No, these ******* claim to have put in an additional R132.12 of petrol, which works out at roughly R12 per litre they have added, miraculously, an additional 11 litres of fuel. Pleas look up, because Jesus Christ must surely be performing miracles again. Now, this means that Hertz clearly engaged in ***** somewhere along the line.
But - it gets better.
I picked up the car at Lanseria airport. At the handover of the car, I was shown around the car and asked by the attendant to sign the handover document. Fortunately, we taped the entire episode. On returning the car 4 days later, they claimed that the spare tyre was flat. Which was interesting, as I did n0t change the wheel, nor was the spare shown to me at the handover. I can prove that it was not shown at the handover as I took a video of it. I can prove there were no tyre changes as I had people with me for the entire time. What does this say about Hertz? They charge me for a replacement wheel R955.75, which is a false charged. In this, Hertz were negligent in their handover and did not check the spare wheel in their process. It is bad enough for not checking it, for it could have left me in serious trouble if I really broke down somewhere unsavoury. Bottom line, whichever side you look at it, they were negligent, they did not act in the best interest of their customers and they were charging a customer for their mistakes. They also assume all their customers are *********, as I was asked to prove to them that I paid the fuel and did not damage the tyre. If they followed their handover process, they would have seen a damaged tyre. Very poor customer service, very poor. I have not received an apology, nor a promise of a refund of the money they **********ly took. At this punt I view them as nothing more as an exploitative ******** enterprise with no integrity or customer service. I wait to hear their response and will publish it in full on here.
