Mislead by staff

Due to a fender bender, I was provided a rental car through my Insurance company, Alexander Forbes. <br> Empire Fleet made contact with me to arrange the vehicle, which was actually provided by Hertz in Sandton. I was happily informed that they would deliver the vehicle to me and collect it from me when my vehicle was ready. When I called to enquire as to why my deposit had not been refunded as yet, the refund amount was about R40 less, was told that this was a fuel charge as when they collected the car from me and drove it back to Hertz, I had to pay for that petrol. Whilst I was told it is in their terms and conditions, I do not see a GPS print out proving that the driver went straight to the Hertz location? I feel that they should have been upfront about this additional charge instead of telling me they could collect anywhere no problem. Beware of this clause, how many other customers are they catching with this?
