Insurance *******

I booked a vehicle from Geneva airport. The booking was through Dollar rental company but was managed by Hertz at the airport.<br> I was quoted a base rate of CHF 249.60 <br> Taxes and fees came to CHF 260 <br> Either way I decided this was an acceptable amount to pay and proceeded with the booking.<br> <br> When I got to the counter I was told that I had not purchased any insurance. Having rented many cars over many years I was flabbergasted to find out that the quoted price did not even include a basic insurance. Normally I am offered an option to purchase top up or super insurance to decrease the excess. Going back into the Orbitz site I now see that a simple tick would have enabled me to purchase insurance for USD 40. Mention is made that the insurance offered online MIGHT be less expensive than at the agency. This is a massive understatement! For CDW and TP insurance I was told I would have to pay CHF 530!!! This was 20 more than the quoted CHF 510 for the base rate and taxes. Standing at the counter with my wife and two kids I had no option but to proceed. I am sure you will agree that this is an outrageous increase.
