HERTZ NIGHTMARE

I collected a rental vehicle at 7.00am at the Gqeberha (Pot Elizabeth) Airport and about an hour later on the R72 towards Port Alfred, fourteen kilometres past the Nanaga Farm Stall, the overheating warning light started to flash on the vehicle dashboard. I pulled over IMMEDIATELY and phoned Hertz.

Hetz phoned me back at 08:36am from cell phone number ***. They apologised for the inconvenient and said they would send out a replacement vehicle immediately. However, I was left stranded in a remote area on the side of the road for 2 hours before the maintenance team arrived with the replacement vehicle.

Volkswagen also phoned me during this time to enquire if I was in a safe area. I spoke to a gentleman called Tom.

I am now being charged R3500 for the damages? The vehicle overheated due to a Hertz maintenance issue with the vehicle cooling system and I am definitely not liable for this breakdown.

I get no response to my many emails to Claims, Debtors and Customer Relations. Please escalate this matter and organise a refund as soon as possible. I was expecting an apology from Hertz for the stress and potential danger I was subjected to after the vehicle broke down on a lonely road, rather than being given a bill by Hertz for the breakdown.
