Hertz - claiming damage cost unfairly

On the 16th of July a returned my car at O.R. Tambo International Airport after a week's rental. Mentioning that I took out all the best insurance and tyre and window waiver that I could get.

Upon arrival a worker of Hertz pointed out that the name tag at the back of the car "Fiesta" ( I rented a Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBooster) was cracked. I told him that there were no way that I could have done the damage. My whole rent period the car was parked behind a secure gate. There was no scratches or dents on the car or near the name tag at the back.

Just to make it CLEAR: The damage was so small I would never notice it when I received the car. ALSO TO MENTION that it was so DARK in the undercovered parking at Johannesburg Airport, there were no way I (OR EVEN YOU!!!) could see the damage before I drove off with it.

The damage: A part of the "F" of the word FIESTA were cracked. Not broken off. Just cracked. It was also suspicious that the Hertz representative saw it so quick - as if he've known about the damage before hand.

He (the Hertz representative) told me to complete a form and there will be an "INVESTIGATION". Upon my arrival in Cape Town the SO CALLED "INVESTIGATION" were finished and YOU already (without letting me know) deduct ZAR 1750 from my Credit Card. Thank you!

First of all: There were NO investigation. No 'investigation' can be completed in 3-4 hours and without calling me! He **** TO ME!

Secondly: As I already said. The damage were so small - there were no way I could have seen it. I have a good history of renting cars from other companies and understand the risk and procedure. The parking bay was so dark - it disadvantaged me when I took possession of the car. ALSO TO MENTION: Since I've got my driving license (more than 10 years ago) I have never been in an accident, caused an accident or claimed from my insurance company - except for wind screens - stone damage - caused by trucks.

THIRDLY: Your representative misleaded me by telling me there will be an "investigation" and that "they" - I guess YOU - will call me. THAT IS NOT GOOD!

FOURTHLY: How on earth could you determined the damage- R 1750 (the Name - Fiesta) in 3-4 hours on a Saturday afternoon? WOW!!!

With a proper caring approach I'm sure we could have solved this problem. But sure I'm JUST A NUMBER.

With a small investigation, by calling me - I'm sure we could have found a proper way to solve this - and to determine the cause of this small damage...

Thinking back - THE ONLY WAY I am SURE how this small damage could have been caused - was by your car wash company. By washing a car with a high pressure pipe - it is the only way how the F of the word FIESTA could have come loose and cracked (without denting or scrsting the body)- NOT FALLING OF - cracked. - only to be caused by pressure from underneath - like a high pressure water jet. NOW THIS WOULD HAVE HELPED IF YOU "INVESTIGATED".

So, DO NOT Reply on this forum. CALL ME. ********** five9six or mail me **********
If you don't have a professional approach by solving this - I will take it further. I'm in the media and have many friends in the media. It is my duty as a consumer to warn the public about your unprofessional way of dealing with clients concerns.

Also, I have sent you a mail to your customer support - only to receive a reply that you will anwer my email within the next 2 weeks - only to know that you do not care to take my money in about to hours.

This cause is not only about the money - but about the unfairly way you treated me and will treat future customers.

Please, prove me wrong.

Stefan
