Hertz Car Rental

I rented a car from Hertz Lanseria on Sunday 9th June as I had to drive to Hazyview for meetings on the Monday. I signed for the basic insurance and they held an amount of R 23,500 on my credit card, as an excess in case of an accident. On Tuesday 11th June I left Hazyview at 07h00 to head back to Johannesburg as I had 3 meetings that afternoon. Plus minus 70 kilometres south of Nelspruit on the N4 toll road at 08h15 ( the N4 at this point is 1 lane in each direction ), I came accross a wild buck running towards me in the left hand yellow lane. I immediately started slowing down and as there were no approaching cars moved over to the center of the road. The buck, however, now ran into the road and forced me to move right over into the on coming lane, to try to avoid hitting the buck. Unfortunately, it kept coming and I collided with it, completely in the oncoming lane. I got out of the car and with the help of some roadside workers and 2 brothers who were in a car behind me and had stopped, we bounced the car out of the right hand oncoming lane. I took a Whatsapp GPS location of the car on my phone plus a few pictures of the car and the dead animal. I took all of my possesions out of the car and locked it. The 2 brothers then offered me a lift to Pretoria and I left with them. I then called Hertz Lanseria at 08h40 and informed them of the accident. I called my Cape Town office and asked our manager to call the Hertz Cape Town office and inform them of the accident. She called Hertz at 08h52 and spent 8 minutes on the phone, while she was transferred to a number of people, eventually ending up with a Brian who took down all the details. She then asked if she could send him the GPS's co-ordinates of where the car was left and he told her it was not necessary as the car had a tracker and they would locate it. I then received and had a number of discussions with Hertz O.R. Tambo at 09h29, 10h12 and 11h03, where I was told that I needed to drop the car keys at their Hatfield, Pretoria office or I would be charged for the keys. I was dropped at the Hertz Hatfield office at around 11h15, where I handed in the keys and was the asked by the branch manager Jo Raubenheimer to fill out an accident/claim report, which I duly did. In this report I clearly stated the GPS co-ordinates of where the car was left. The manager asked me if I had taken photographs of the car, which I said I had and she asked me to please send them to her, which I did. In all of my discussions with Hertz representatives, no one ever mentioned that I should report the accident to the S.A. Police. I then used Uber to get back to Johannesburg to make my various meetings that afternoon. The next day back in Cape Town, I received messages from American Express Card that 3 amounts of R 23,500, R 10,000 and R 25,150 ( Total = R 60,150 ) had been taken out of my card account. I have tried to speak to someone at Hertz but to no avail, I have only dealt with Sasha Adams in their call centre/claims department. So last Sunday I had to go up to Johannesburg for the week and booked a car with Bidvest Car Rental, Lanseria. I arrived at Lanseria and proceeded to the Bidvest counter and was busy getting the car, when all of a sudden the lady mentioned that she could not rent a car to me as I had been blacklisted by Hertz. I have attached a copy of the alert which came through on the Bidvest screen. This alert states that I had an accident on the 10th June ( which is incorrect as the accident was on the 11th June ), abandoned the car on the N4 and failed to notify them until I returned the keys to Pretoria on the 11th June ( Hertz were sent all the phone records, I have attached these to this letter ). This is patently incorrect as my 1st call was within 25 minutes of the accident and my office manager's within 40 minutes of the accident. The alert then states that I did not tell them where the car was, but this is not correct as my office manager offered to send Brian the co-ordinates and he stated that this was not necessary as the car had a tracking device. In addition the claim form I filled out in Pretoria 3 hours after the accident, clearly stated the GPS co-ordinates of where the vehicle was. I feel I have been very badly treated, made out to be delinquent, negligent and now blacklisted by this whole saga and would appreciate your looking into this matter.
