Hertz Car Hire tried to deduct R165,712.00 from my account!!

Hertz Car Hire tried to directly deduct R165,712.00 from my account after the car I had hired, developed an electrical fault and as a result, part of the dashboard melted. This happened overnight in my garage.

They were insistent that as I had not reported it to the SAPS, I was liable for the damage. I experienced a traumatic couple of months fighting this, and they finally agreed to waive the claim. All was well until more than 3 years later, on the 30th June 2019 I received a statement claiming that I owed Hertz R13,820.00!. After much communication and due to prescription, they agreed to cancel this claim.

Needless to say, I shall never use Hertz Car Hire again!
