DISGUSTING ********* BUSINESS NO PRINCIPLES, THEFT AND ***** BY HERTZ CPT AIRPORT
I hired a luxury car online with Hertz Car Rental Cape Town International Aiport on the 8th of April 2021 having landed from Johannesburg and returned it on the 11th of April 2021. Included on my car hire deductions was the insurance waiver and the R 1600.00 for fuel incase I return the car empty then I will forfeit the R1600.00 deducted for fuel to be refunded when the the car is returned on full tank. On the 11th my flight was Flysafair at 14:45, I decided that I will refuel the car before returning it at the BP Airport just before 14:00 which is less than a kilometer to the car rental returns so that they have no excuse to keep my money. I dropped off the car, I gave the receipt for fuel to the gentlemen who received the car and confirmed everything was in order. We (with my cousin) continued to rush to catch our flight. We got to the check in desk at 14;06, I remember this because the lady at the Priority check in desk said "Sorry Ma'am, your flight is still open for you to board however we closed at 14:05 fo bag drop off" as I looked at the time we missed bag drop off by a minute. We caught the next flight for 15:50 on the same day. I got my invoice a day later and I waited for the refund for fuel which I never received. I contact Hertz CPT Airport the phone just rings and I resort to sending an email requesting the refund and mentioning i refueled the car at the BP Airport and gave the inspecting guy the fuel receipt to prove it. The response from Thando Betya was "send us the receipt" regardless of my initial email saying i gave the reciept to the person who received the car and offered to send the screenshot of the transaction while I await to get a stamped bank statement showing the transaction. Again, Thando Betya sent a one liner email saying "send the receipt" LOL. I laughed in disbelief as this was already giving me "we've ****** your money and intend to keep it regardless of your facts energy". I therefore asked Thando Betya the following on email: 1. As I am expected to have proof I had to kindly provide me with proof that the vehicle was returned empty. 2. On the contract I signed, for her to please provide me with a clause that says "your money is refundable on physical proof of a receipt that the car was refueled and the specified different receipt drop off if not to the inspecting personnel". Mind you, I gave the guy the receipt out of courtesy and proving where the car was refueled to avoid the usual "you filled up the car in Waterfront therefore it was no longer a full tank on drop off" you know how they roll moss. On the above requests that were not acknowledged by the feisty Thando Betya she responded what I offered from the beginning which is a bank statement over and above the screenshot of my FNB in contact sms. I know i sometimes just drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town to refuel my car and drive back but not on that particular day because I was driving their car. To me this is blatant ***** if you take money that is due to me without justifying or giving detailed invoice of why that money was retained. Also, out of principle you check the facts that the client is giving you and do due diligence in resolving the matter vs demanding proof because I know for a fact: - They did not refuel that car before parking it or handing it over to the next client. - I know for a FACT that car was NOT EMPTY therefore what reasons does hertz have for keeping my money. That is THEFT and *****!!!! I have been in client relations for most my life and your processes to deal with your clients is either floored or deliberately set up that way to ***** from your clients with is ********* and UNFORTUNATE. This is DISGUSTING.
