Damages on car that are not on VPI sheet

I hired a car with Hertz at Cape Town International Airport on 05/10/2024 and returned it on 14/10/2024 with ref 15BHNQ.

When I returned the car and I was shown a scratch that was made by me which I did not.

Please find attached the Vehicle Pre/Post Inspection sheet which shows there were no scratches on the vehicle that were ticked off on the sheet and the inspection was done at night.

The following is what I found to be wrong with the car:

1. Car was not cleaned properly especially on the outside. And the lady accept that and she said that is not true which I could not understand as she was not there when I took the car. 2. There were scratches on the car that I was able to notice and I took some pictures of some of the scratches as I was alone doing the inspection and no one from the company did that with me as the VPI sheet says the inspection was done at night. 3. The VPI Sheet doesn't mention any scratches just a missing mat on the driver's side. 4. She said we should have tried to fix the dent before returning the car and my confusion is how do I fix something that I may not have caused? 5. She just told me to fill in the information on the last page and say if I do not know how the dent came about which I did.

My question now is how can I be sure that I caused the damage when your own VPI sheet shows that there were no damages or scratches on the car when I have some pictures confirming that there were dents and scratches already on the car? Even on the phone the lady had there were no pictures of the car or any damages.

and today they have deducted an amount of 4600 from my credit card without communication or even responding to the email that I sent on the 14th.
