Bunch of *******!

My opinion about Hertz? You are a bunch of *******! I have been a long term client of Hertz since May 2016, renewing my rental every month. When I started my rental period, I paid the first month's rental, contract fees as well as the petrol deposit. First 3 months, no issues. Then suddenly I am being double charged for my rental every month. I end up in a shouting match with the branch manager at the Port Elizabeth Airport on a monthly basis just to get MY money back - Hertz PE charges me as well as Hertz Head Office. Eventually we came to an agreement that only the branch manager will handle my account and that only once I approved the cost, will he allow money to be deducted from my account. Smooth sailing again for a couple of months. Then suddenly Hertz decided to charge clients rental as well as the petrol deposit EVERY time you close and open a new contract - long term clients. Nothing wrong with it except they NEVER refund you for the first month's deposit you already paid! So, according to Hertz I now have to pay R7662 (and not simply R4662 for rental) every month, and the NEVER reverse the initial R3000 deposit paid. Once again a huge shouting match between me and the branch manager - my telephone cost and data cost as I have to call and e-mail just to get MY money back. Eventually after sending my bank statements as proof that I never received any deposits back from Hertz, we came to an arrangement that he will only deduct the R4662 from my account every month for the new rental period and simply keep the R3000 initially paid as deposit. Three months into the new year and all is fine. Until end March 2017 and the branch manager being on leave.

I received an e-mail from a lady standing in for the branch manager, on Thursday, 30 March 2017 requesting the odometer reading on the vehicle as well as confirmation of the renewal of my rental. Once again Hertz deducts R7662 from my account. I immediately phoned her, explained the situation to her and she promises to resolve the issue. I even sent her an e-mail with previous Invoices from Hertz as proof that I only pay the R4662 amount. I do not get any feedback from her. I phoned 5 times on Friday, 31 March 2017 and left messages for her to phone me back - every time I phone I hear excuses of how busy they are, etc. I even sent her an e-mail, no response at all.

On Saturday afternoon, 1 April 2017 I attempted to draw money just to get the shock of my life. Hertz AGAIN deducted R4662 from my account! Now we stand on almost R13 000 for ONE MONTH'S RENTAL!!!!!! The fact that Hertz never reversed the initial R7662 transaction now pushed my account into an overdraft at my bank. WHO IS GOING TO BE LIABLE FOR TRANSACTION FEES ON DEBIT ORDERS BEING REVERSED BY MY BANK DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDS?????????

Once again at my cost, I phone the branch this morning just after 8.30am finally being able to speak to the lady in question. She asked me to send her an e-mail explaining the situation and she will follow up with whomever responsible for the reversal of the initial R7662 amount. I sent the e-mail and phoned back 30 minutes later to confirm whether she received the e-mail. I was told she is too busy and did not have time yet to look for my e-mail. Really??????? You already *****ed up in the first place by not contacting a customer you promised you would after 5 messages was left for you and now you simply blow of the customer with a "I am really busy". When and where is my issue becoming urgent enough for her? Clearly she does not care, after all it is not her money being taken without consent! My personal opinion, do not put someone in charge who cannot handle the pressure and believe me if she were in my service, she would no longer have a job as this is NOT the way you treat a customer!

Clearly staff at branch level is a reflection of Management on a National level - pathetic!

(Just to confirm: It is now an hour since I sent the e-mail to the Hertz PE Airport branch, and still she has not even opened the e-mail. I know, because I have a read receipt function on my e-mails sent. Once again proof that the customer means nothing to Hertz and she has no intentions of solving my issue today.)
