Beware of Hertz Rentals at Barcelona Airport

Very disappointed with the service at Barcelona El Prat Airport when dropping off the car. When I handed the keys to the Hertz employee I checked if all was ok with the car, which he agreed. To my astonishment days later, I received a bill of ~200 euro for damage observed to the rear of the car. They sent a photo of the damage but I could hardly see the tiny scratch. While I couldn't prove the minute scratch wasn't already there (my photos prior to hiring the car didn't have the resolution to spot a scratch of that size), the cost they charged for repairing it was exorbitant. I suspect I was charged for this damage because I didn't take full ~200 euro insurance with the company. Summary: If you want to hire a car from Hertz at Barcelona airport, ensure you take out full insurance, otherwise they may well find problems to get that money from you anyway.
