Bad customer service

My partner rented a car online, paid deposit amd called to confirm 2 days before. When we arrive at the airport to fetch the car we are told his credit score is low. What the ****? Could they not see all this before. The cat was rented a month in advance. This is an inconvenience and a waste of ones time. Very poor customer service and inconsiderate of their clients.
