Hermanos Barber Shop Loop Street Cape Town - where you must pay R500 to entertain the all white staff

I’ve been to Hermanos about 12 times in the past 3 years. Always give the same instructions and have never had a bad incident until now, and had great dressers like Quintin. That’s what you pay R500 or so for a beard trim and cut. Angela was the most unprofessional hairdresser I’ve dealt with before. She rolled her eyes at me and flustered as if she’s never cut male hair before. I had to repeat simple instructions for a simple cut 3 times. She seemed half asleep, and kept complaining and muttering to herself in exasperation until I asked politely if we could not talk and just focus on the cut. She made me feel so uncomfortable and then started attacking me for not wanting to talk, as if part of getting a cut is that it’s my job to keep her entertained or explain in the specific razor sizes what I want! Asking me if I want a “6” isn’t professional- I don’t know what’s being referred to. Attacking a customer because they don’t want to talk is also unprofessional. I felt so uncomfortable I decided to leave 10 mins in. The receptionist who had been on her phone sending voice notes to a friend on WhatsApp was disinterested and ready to defend her “friend” and clearly seemed to be a temp brought on for the holidays, she was equally rude and dismissive, didn’t even enquire why I decided to end a cut early, had no inkling for customer service and for the prices charged this is unacceptable. As the only non white person in the shop (this time, and most times I’ve been) I can put this down to either total incompetence, entitlement, unprofessionalism or outright ******. Do not visit this establishment until management has addressed this disgusting behavior and trained new staff like Angela that they are charging for a premium service and must cater to a diverse set of clients and treat all their customers with respect.
