We recently had a brand new swimming pool pump installed in December 2025 at a cost of ±R6,400 and less than 5 months later, it started leaking.

What’s even more concerning is that the issue appears to have been there from the beginning. Due to heavy rains, it went unnoticed for some time, but when we inspected it last week, the pump was leaking extensively, especially during backwashing. Even worse, water was leaking over exposed electrical wires, creating a serious safety risk.

We called the company back out, and during their visit it was confirmed that the installation was done incorrectly. The pipe connection had failed during installation, a composite clamp had been used inappropriately, and this caused the lower pipe to crack. The pipe was also found lying loose, clear signs of poor workmanship.

Despite this, we’ve now been asked to pay again to fix what is clearly an installation fault. Which leads us to think that this is the way the company does business; they incorrectly install products like pool pumps so that there is follow-up business.

We cannot accept being charged to correct an issue that stems from the original installation. This is not just disappointing, it’s unacceptable, especially given the safety concerns.
