UTRAGEOUS: HelloPaisa Blocking Rent Payment – We’re Facing EVICTION

We are beyond furious.

A payment of R2600 was sent from New Zealand to cover rent in Cape Town. It was sent to a verified personal Capitec account — as HelloPaisa themselves instructed, since business accounts are not allowed.

Despite following every single rule, the payment is being unjustly blocked, with HelloPaisa claiming “name mismatch” when the recipient name matches the bank account exactly. The reference label used in the app was purely for identification — not the account holder name, which is 100% correct.

And now, complete silence. We’ve sent multiple emails. Not one reply. No help. No escalation. Nothing.

We are now on the verge of eviction, and HelloPaisa is holding up rent money that legally and properly belongs to the tenant. This is financial sabotage. There is no error on our side — only bureaucratic madness, a broken system, and a company that seems to think it’s acceptable to jeopardize people’s homes with zero accountability.

Fix this immediately, or we will be filing formal complaints with the NCR, FSCA, and every consumer watchdog available. We will not let this go.

This is outrageous, inhumane, and unforgivable.

Hi Paul,

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience — we completely understand how distressing this situation must be, especially given the urgency of a rent payment. Please know that we take these matters extremely seriously.

Our team does its best to comply with strict financial regulations, including recipient name verification, to ensure all transfers are processed securely. That said, if the issue stems from a name mismatch and you believe the details are correct, we’d like to urgently re-investigate and escalate this on your behalf.

Please email us immediately at *** with your transaction reference number and any supporting documents, or call us directly on *** so we can prioritise this case.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and stress caused and are committed to helping resolve this as quickly and fairly as possible.
