Helen Joseph is the WORST hospital in South Africa!!!

I am UTTERLY DISGUSTED with the APPALLING service provided at this PATHETIC EXCUSE of a "hospital"! Not one employee provided even a semblence of kindness, integrity, professionalism or care for the patients. The casualty area is filthy, the clerks and security staff are VERY rude and without and ounce of compassion! They send you up and down and tell you straight to the face that they will NOT help or if it is so important the Doctor will send for it him/herself, plus not one single person wears a name tag! The security staff will not let you accompany the sick and people are left unconscious without the nursing staff even caring or even knowing WHY the patient is even there. Also, this is a public hospital but unemployed people have to pay R115.00 to open a file and R150.00 upon admission! They then decide to send you away if you happen to come without a referral note and tell you they "WILL NOT HELP YOU IF YOU HAVE NO REFERRAL FROM YOUR CLINIC", even in emergency cases. If we cannot depend on the public services our country have to offer then who can we depend on? This is unacceptable and atrocious and this hospital needs a strict lesson taught IMMEDIATELY!! Swift action will be appreciated.
