Exotic Fireplaces Tania Rossouw - High risk installer, poor service and appalling attitude

We had our gas fire place taken out and converted to a wood fire place. Tania Rossouw from Exotic fireplaces came to do an assessment and looked at our existing fireplace. After a quote we agreed to do the installation and she proceeded. One week after installation we made the 5 th fire on a Sunday afternoon and the ceiling caught fire, out roof started burning and we nearly lost our whole house through a very traumatic experience especially for our 2 small children. It turned out that the flexible flu that was installed was inappropriate and the ceiling got too hot. We nearly lost the whole house, let alone the danger to ourselves and our 2 small children had this happened in the middle of the night. Tania said it was our fault and that our chimney was not built correctly. (even though she did the conversion and assessed it for a save installation) experts from insurance told us that the flexible flu she used was not appropriate for such a oven type wood fire place as the heat can be up to 500 degrees Celsius. Tania doesn't feel the fire was caused by her installation even though it happened one week after installation. We are Appalled with Tania's lack of taking responsibility and the poor installation. This may risk other people's lives. We were lucky that this happened on a Sunday afternoon while we were making one of our first fire's at home. We have had the coldest, most unpleasan, covid infested winter of our lives. Thanks to exotic fireplaces. 5 months later we are still busy with building and fixing after the fire without any compensation from Tania and her company.
