They supply faulty geysers

I had a geyser replaced on 10 March 2014. Shortly after installation the geyser failed and a person from Heat Tech Geysers came to look at it and contrary to the Consumer Protection Act repaired the Geyser without consulting me as to what I wanted. It is my right to choose whether I accept a repair, replacement or refund under the Act.Just looking at the quality of the repair, man oh man it is staggeringly bad allowing dust into the thermostat housing.

The geyser's thermostat failed on 20 April 2015 and Heat Tech refuse to repair the thermostat because it is well out of guarantee which starts from the date of manufacture not the date of installation. WHAT??? But what of the 5 year guarantee sticker prominently displayed on the packaging the geyser comes in? No apparently that doesn't cover the electronics which are only guaranteed for 1 year in the small print on the geyser. What else is there in a geyser that can go wrong within 5 years that there is a need to trumpet the 5 year guarantee?

My recommendation? If you see your plumber about to install this heap of **** in your house refuse to allow it. Heat Tech is a very BAD company. Plumbers, do not deal with this company either.

Hello Hockeyump,

It is clearly stated on our guarantee condition that the following periods apply to:

Element & Thermostat 1 year
Valves 2 years
Geyser 5 years

There is no intention of misleading the consumer regarding the guarantee period.

Unfortunately the electronics is not covered for a longer period.

Please refer to the industry and you will notice that all manufacturers only offer a 1 year period on the electronics.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the failure of the thermostat.

In good faith we will gladly issue you with a spare thermostat.

Please forward your details to: ***

Regards,

Heat Tech
