Resolution Health's Shameful Treatment

<p>My father was diagnosed with cancer of the ampula in August 2015. He was permitted to have the initial tests done which Resolution paid for. Once he was diagnosed he registered with Resolution Health for oncology. Resolution accepted his registration for oncology benefits. He went to see professor Ramos at the Donald Gordon Hospital of Resolution only paid about R 300.00 of the R 1000.00 that they had to pay. Professor Ramos advised that my father should have an operation as the only form of treatment that would have any chance of success. He eventually decided to have operation having discussed his situation with the family gp and doing a lot of research on the Internet. He submitted the request for the authorisation for the hospital and operation to be done. The authorisation was given by Resolution Health. The operation was performed in early December. After the operation and my father was released from hospital to recuperate at home he eventually received a bill from the Donald Gordon for around R 40,000.00 . Resolution Health then told my father that because they gave authorisation it did not mean that they would pay and that they were not obligated to pay. As far as I am aware once a medical aid has given authorisation for a procedure in hospital this means that they have guaranteed to pay. If this is not the case then what is the reason for obtaining authorisation. Resolution need to be taken to task as they take people's money but do not abide by their commitments. Resolution has to the worst medical scheme and as far as I am concerned they should be closed down and fined for not providing the service that they should and for *****ing members money.</p>
