HEALTH SQUARED? THERE MUST BE SOMEONE BETTER

I have been a member of Resolution Health which became Health Squared since 2007. There have been very few major issues but when it came to minor procedures, the authorizations were confusing and they end up not paying for some of the items. Now my wife has to go for urgent laparoscopic surgery and we are now told that our plan doesn't cover laparoscopic surgery, but the procedure can be done by open surgery, which would mean a longer time in hospital and a longer time for recovery with more risk of complications. Who would have thought that a medical aid would rather want to spend the same money and have the risk of paying out more money for complications? The worst is that you cannot speak to anyone but the contact centre, and they take literally (on average after 3 attempts) 20 minutes to answer the call. When you do get through, they ask for all kinds o reports in support of the objection which you provide. You then get told that the report was not good enough, so you get another one. You then get told that they will wait for the lab report after the procedure to let you know if they will pay or not. So you will have to lay out close to R20,000 in the hope that you will get something back. I am sure tmonthhat there must be a better medical aid for R9000 per
