Frustrations with their service
A good medical aid for people that are very healthy. We left this medical aid in February 2020 and my husband is still trying to sort out accounts that haven't been paid for September 2019.
My husband had a kidney transplant. For ALL his follow up blood tests, doctors' appointments, anything he had to get authorization before the time. Not a very good system. In the case of blood tests, this means 20+ codes that you have to read over the telephone to the operator, so there are bound to be problems. He was even authorized for a pap smear as the operator captured the wrong code, haha. So each code that is captured in error is a blood test or a doctors' visit that they don't pay, which happens a lot.
He is currently on the phone as they do not want to pay for in-hospital tests done. They do not want to pay for the one in hospital specialists because Healthsquared captured the hospital dates wrong. We phone and ask that they pay, they promise, then the case miraculously disappears. We have been handed over to lawyers numerous times.
On our current medical-aid, all my husband's post kidney transplant-related tests and doctors' visits are pre-authorized for the year and they pay within 2 weeks.
This is ridiculous. HealthSquared is a very frustrating and difficult company to deal with.

I do not know what to say anymore. I am flabbergasted.
