GWM HAVAL South Africa and NMI GWM Umhlanga NO HELP! ● Unresolved Vehicle Issues and Substandard Service from HAVAL SA and NMI Haval Umhlanga To Whom It May Concern at Haval South Africa and NMI Haval Umhlanga Management, This post serves as a formal complaint detailing two separate, highly unsatisfactory experiences with Haval vehicles and the subsequent lack of resolution and poor service provided by both Haval South Africa and NMI Haval Umhlanga. 1. First Vehicle: Persistent Safety Issues and Lack of Support My first experience began earlier this year following the purchase of a Haval Jolion. • Critical Safety Issue: Almost immediately, the vehicle began cutting off spontaneously while driving, creating a significant safety risk for myself and my family. • Repeated Diagnostic Failures: The vehicle was brought to NMI Haval Umhlanga for diagnosis multiple times (almost every second week). Initial reports cited the CPU not corresponding with other components. This issue persisted despite assurances that it had been resolved. A subsequent two-week diagnostic period yielded the same inconclusive finding. • Failure to Provide a Courtesy Vehicle: Despite the vehicle being off the road for extended periods, NMI Haval Umhlanga failed to provide a courtesy vehicle, citing excuses of unavailability or repairs(i understood this issue). However this left me without essential transportation for work. • Substandard Customer Service and Transportation Failure: On one occasion, I was informed the vehicle was ready and a pickup would be arranged. This commitment was not honored, leaving me stranded. Service Advisor Xolani suggested I take a taxi or Uber, or worse, meet an unvetted third party (a "friend" of his) at a BP garage in Ballito for transportation, which I rightfully declined due to safety concerns. • Immediate Recurrence of Fault: Upon finally collecting the vehicle, with assurances from Mr. Xolani that all was resolved, the car switched off on the freeway while driving home. • Unacceptable Workshop Advice: After bringing my car (Haval jolion) back, Workshop Manager Cedric advised me that the issue was the ECU, and the only recourse was to either "use the car like that" or trade it in at my own cost to cover "short faults." • Haval SA's Failure to Intervene: I made contact via a phone call with Raelene and Francois Froneman at Haval South Africa which resulted in no meaningful intervention. After three days, they merely echoed NMI Umhlanga's unacceptable advice that I must either use the unsafe car or trade it in. The safety risk posed by this vehicle, coupled with the lack of ethical support from NMI Umhlanga and Haval SA, forced me to trade in a nearly new vehicle at a financial loss. This was an unfair burden placed upon a loyal customer. However i made a call to trade my vehicle in and to take something that's more reliable which costed me more and was not fair on me as a customer. 2. Second Vehicle: (Haval jolion Luxury DCT)Warranty Claim Denials and Broken Promises Based on assurances from Sales Manager Irfan and Salesperson Shaun that any future issues would be resolved at nmi umhlanga as i explained my previous experience that i had with my first Haval mentioned above, I reluctantly purchased a second Haval vehicle (a Jolion Luxury DCT). Not even eight months later, I am experiencing major mechanical issues. • Identified Mechanical Failure: The vehicle developed a significant noise/humming, so i did as i was told by irfan and shaun from nmi umhlanga and took the car back ,where a test drive with an NMI Umhlanga technician, Cyril, confirmed failing wheel bearings (both front and rear). • Protracted and Inefficient Warranty Process: • I was instructed to book the car in the following week for a second inspection(test drive) where another technician would be driving the vehicle and an inspector who would be seated in the back passenger seat would be taking a video recording to show what the car was doing so that they could put through a warranty claim. And so the following week i did that . • One week passed without feedback, requiring me to call. Service Advisor Xolani who then confirmed the claim was approved but required another week for spares. • spares came through i dropped my car off and Upon replacement, Service Advisor Cindy called, stating that despite three wheel bearings on the car were failing(faulty), only one was replaced. So i furthered questioned them as to why the car was not checked while the car was on the ramp Technician Cyril stated they only check the ones making noise and not the rest,so I further stated that if 1 wheel bearing was failing the rest will start to fail as well. • Agreement Made and Immediately Broken: I refused to accept the car back until they have sorted out all of the wheel bearings. An agreement was reached with the following people being present the technician Cyril, sales person Shaun, sales manager Irfan, and the Workshop Manager (name unknown) and myself to replace all four wheel bearings, acknowledging their failure to conduct a proper inspection.I then left my vehicle with nmi umhlanga for a week to get it sorted out. • Promise Broken Again: After a week, I was called to collect the vehicle, only to find that only two of the four agreed-upon wheel bearings had been replaced. • Continued Failure to Resolve: After contacting Haval SA again, Raelene assured me the issue would be resolved, but this has yet to materialize. • Misleading and Dishonest Collection Advice: on the 13/11/2025, Mr. Xolani advised I collect the vehicle and only book it in again when the other two bearings begin to fail. He also incorrectly and unprofessionally claimed there was an issue with my tyres. Upon inspecting my car when i got to nmi umhlanga along side Xolani, the tyres were found to be brand new and perfectly fine. In Conclusion The service i received from NMI Haval Umhlanga and the national support from Haval South Africa has been consistently dishonest, negligent, and unacceptable. It is appalling and deeply disappointing that I have had to endure such poor treatment from a company I chose twice. I am bringing my bad experience to social media because I am tired of going back and forth with nmi umhlanga, I am frustrated at this point and extremely disappointed at their poor customer service . I request an immediate and satisfactory explanation for: • The failure to provide safe, reliable vehicles under warranty. • The repeated failure to honor written and verbal commitments (e.g., courtesy vehicle, four wheel bearing replacement). • The unprofessional and potentially dangerous advice given by workshop staff (e.g., "use the car like that"). • And a clear, written commitment on how Haval South Africa intends to address the substantial inconvenience, time, and financial loss this entire experience has cost me.
