Humiliating and disrespectful treatment experienced at Haval Dealership in Brits , Pretoria

Dear Sir/Madam

I bought a Haval H2 in 2020 which was unfortunately involved 8n an accident on 20 December 2021 and subsequently written off.

Because of the good experience I have in owning such a vehicle, I then decided to look around for a replacement. I then went to Haval dealer in Gezina Pretoria where I saw the latest Haval Joloion Luxury which I liked but unfortunately there had no stock and I was told lots of people are on their list awaiting the delivery of another load which is expected some time during the end of January or first week of February. The service I got from the sales guy (Nelson) was very good.

In the absence of available stock in Gezina, I then checked with Haval Hatfield and Haval Centurion who also both told me there was no stock available.

While shopping around through google, I then found Haval dealer in Brits. I called and was assisted by a lady called Abigail who told me she has a car. Because of the scarcity of these cars, we then made an appointment sothat we can finalize the deal. I then send her all the necessary documents to enable her to process the deal.

On the 13th January, I communicated with her again and she reconfirmed the availability of the car and we agreed that I can come and collect.

I then asked my niece who is an Uber driver to accompany me and we drove almost 70km from Pretoria Central to Brits.

On arrival at the dealer I met with Abigail (the sales assistant) which showed me the car and I was ok with it. She then took me to another guy who had all the I formation I send to finalize the deal.

I was with the guy for more than 3 hours while he was finalizing. The bank approvals were recieved and all the verifications were done and the results were positive. The sales lady then requested their car assistants to wash the car while will be finalizing the contract and insurance matter.

Suddenly I was told that I can't take the car because it has already been bought by one white person. This came as a shock to me because its availability was confirmed with me prior and also reconfirmed when I arrived.

I then insisted that I want to speak with the manager. The guy who was assisting me with the financial process then called the managers who were apparently out for a meeting.

They then arrived within 5 minutes after the guy told them iam not prepared to leave without a car especially after traveling that far just to collect it.

I then explained to them what happened and to my suprise they were not apologetic about what happened. One of them (Johan) indicated that they cannot be held responsible for the mistake done by Abigail since she was still.on training

My questions are:

1. If a person is still on training, doesn't she represent the company?

2. Why is she left to make decisions on her own before verifying such with supervisor or manager

3. If the car was indeed sold, why was the SOLD sticker not put on it or if it was for a customer on a waiting list why were all sales reps not aware of that surely there must be a system in place where such information is recorded for all sales people to view before making commitments o the availability of vehicles

I find this treatment at Haval very, humiliating, disrespectful and racial to say the list. I think a person of another color would have been treated better by the two managers.

What is worse is that we are experiencing Covid and None of their staff members were wearing masks including the managers.

While I understand that there is a shortage of these cars in the country and that dealers are making other means (like introducing a paid waiting list), this incident has left me shattered to say the least and it is my opinion that the decision was based on race and nothing else.

May I kindly request Haval SA to look into this matter and revert back to me.

I will still continue to look for a Haval because I love it.

Regards

Elizabeth Kgwadi
