Formal Complaint Regarding Service at Haval Thorpe Plumstead
Dear Haval South Africa Customer Care Team,
I am writing to express my escalating frustration regarding the service at your Haval Thorpe Plumstead branch in Cape Town, specifically the handling of my vehicle’s engine warning light issue.
During my vehicle service over three weeks ago, the branch identified that the engine warning light problem was caused by faulty oxygen sensors that needed replacement. This issue was confirmed when I collected my vehicle, with an explanation that the faulty sensors were causing the fuel smell upon stopping my car. Additionally, I was informed that this issue would result in increased fuel consumption until resolved.
Despite this diagnosis, I have yet to receive any updates on the matter after being assured a warranty claim would be lodged promptly. I have personally followed up four to five times with the branch, only to be met with promises of callbacks that never occurred. Over these weeks, my vehicle has begun losing power while driving, raising concerns about potential further damage. As I am not an expert, I worry about the risks posed by an unbalanced fuel-air mixture, which I understand could lead to reduced efficiency, stalling, and long-term damage to the engine and catalytic converter.
During my in-person visit to the branch, I sought clarity from the manager, Jacques Fryer, but encountered further disappointment. He insisted on waiting for the warranty clerk to address my query, even though the manager could have checked the system for any lodged claims or updates. I requested to chat to a more senior representative and he advised that he was the most senior manager in South Africa. This approach demonstrated a lack of urgency or customer care. I also suggested capturing the necessary details immediately to avoid additional inconvenience, but was told this was not possible.
The lack of communication and proactive action regarding such a critical issue is unacceptable, and the handling of my case has left me deeply dissatisfied. I believe an engine warning light should warrant priority and swift resolution.
I kindly request immediate action to address this matter, including: 1. Confirmation on whether a warranty claim has been lodged for my vehicle. 2. A clear timeline for resolving the issue with the oxygen sensors. 3. Assurance that my vehicle has not sustained further damage due to the delay.
Furthermore, I ask that your team review the service provided at Haval Thorpe Plumstead to ensure customers receive timely updates and professional assistance moving forward.
