A conflicting, but honest review of Haval Edenvale.

I recently bought a Ford Transit Custom from Haval Edenvale – the vehicle is my pride and joy. Shout out to Sheldon from Cherry – a sister dealership (just up the road from Haval) who has given me great service with buying the vehicle. However after 7000km’s I get a warning light. I have to replace all 4 brake pads on the vehicle. Now, keeping in mind that 80% of the time I only drive on highways with minimal breaking required (as I use the vehicle for work – we are sound engineers and DJ’s). To give an example – we drove to the Karoo this year from Pretoria which would account for 1****m’s of Highway driving with minimal breaking required. I took the vehicle back to Haval’s service department in order to contest the unexpected repairs that need to be done on the vehicle. They quoted me R4 841 to get new brake pads and skimming of the discs (which also should not be at my expenditure because I bought the vehicle with a 1 year mechanical warranty). This would bring month 5’s instalment on the vehicle to R13000 (with insurance). After spending a whole day at Haval’s service centre (thank you Rose at reception and Stoffel the mechanic – you guys were superstars) I had to go home because the “despite” could not be settled. I was told that Haval would get back to me on the matter as the MD was busy with training. It has been two days and counting since I have gotten any form of response from Haval. Now, don’t get me wrong, I understand that brake pads are classified as wear and tear on a vehicle, I have no problem with replacing them at my own cost after I have driven at least 15 000km’s. When I bought the vehicle I have been told that the vehicle is in tip top shape. We drive around with very expensive sound equipment, so we don’t have the luxury of driving in a sporty manner. Even if I could – this vehicle is my pride and joy and I take very good care of it. After all is said and done I took the vehicle to my local and very trusted mechanic. He found a new problem- a broken brake caliper. So add R2050 to the R4 841 Haval had quoted me. I fixed the vehicle which brought month 5’s instalment on the vehicle to R15000. Ridiculous - it should have been in "tip top shape" as promised. I hate disputes, it is not in my nature as human being, but I do feel that Haval Edenvale does bear some responsibility for selling me a vehicle with breaks that need to be replaced after 7000km’s. – Like I said, 80% of the 7000km’s was driven on highways with minimal breaking required. Reasonable help was refused by Haval Edenvale and no follow-up has been done by Haval Edenvale after they promised to get back to me.
