Atrocious attitude and service from Hatfield VW Northcliff
I would like to share my ********** experience with VW Hatfield Northcliff. My Car, a Golf VII with 58k km on the clock, suffered a gearbox fail 6 weeks ago. It was towed to Hatfield Northcliff, on the advise of VW customer service (who were very good) . Sifiso the mechanic told me it was the Mechatronics and had to be ordered from Germany. 12 days later the part arrive, I was then told another part would have to be ordered from Germany as the replacement Mechatronics was not only problem. So clearly this was not tested while they were waiting for the part to come from Germany. So after a further 14 days I am told the car is ready. I drove it for 3 days and gearbox FAILED. I lost 4 gears. I took it back they stripped it and told me, now a bearing is worn. So clearly in the proceeding month they had not checked the bearings either. A week later the part arrives from PE (BTW flights between PE and JHB occur multiple times a day). The part is installed and I go to collect my car today. The Service Manager Kurtain and Sifiso guarantee me that the car is perfect, they test drove it they said. This is the same message I got the last time. Well it is not fixed!!! The car jerks everytime it gears down from 4th to 3rd and on top of this I am getting a water coolant warning in RED from my car. (BTW the car was serviced during that first week of me handing it in).
But that is not even the worst of it. After I took my car back due to the second failed Gearbox incident and I received a courtesy car. I had small accident in the car, it rolled back and the door was quite damaged. I contacted VW to notifiy them, specifically Sifiso, and he told me not to worry they will assess it when I return the vehicle. So today I went to return the vehicle. They told me I had to pay R15k as per their policy and I would not be allowed to receive my car until I paid the 15k. Had I known this before I could have prepared. I explained to them that I didn't have that cash at the moment. I could pay half and then the rest next week. They would not hear any of it. They offered me no leniency at all, in fact I felt as if I was being bul****. In the room were 4 of the staff. So I had to call my family members and I asked if we could EFT the funds to them. The answer was yes as long as it reflected today. As my family members bank with another bank this was not possible. So eventually my mom and aunt had to drive to the Hatfield VW and we EFT'd them the money off their PC and they eventually agreed to let my car go. Here is the kicker....When I got my car it was damaged. It was badly scratched down the door. Do you think VW hatfield offered me same courtesy and gave me 15K excess....no! Not even an apology, simply get 3 quotes and we will pay. But I had to pay 15k before even establishing how much the damage was going to cost....but VW wont do the same for me. Bullies the lot of you!
I will be taking my car back and I want a new gearbox, this will be the 3rd time it has gone to this garage for this reason, clearly they don't have the s****s to repair it.
