Just another VW customer
On 28 February 2020, I purchased a 2020 demo model with just 2500 kilometers from Hatfield VW Northcliff. Within 100 meters of leaving the dealership, I noticed a leak coming from the sunroof as there was a slight drizzle that day to my luck. I took the car back and this was to be attended to swiftly. With an already bitter taste on my mouth, I left it there and declined using their courtesy car as I couldn't afford the access required should anything happen to it while in my possession. I received the car back 4 days later and couldn't tell if the issue was fixed as there had been no rain. Fast forward mid-May when the problem persisted and made contact with them and was told that they are only attending to "urgent" repairs because of the lockdown...I'd like to think that being rained on while is driving is quite urgent. I have pictures and videos sent the sales consultant to back that.
After multiple calls and promises, I drove to the dealership myself and demanded service on Thursday, 18 June. The vehicle was picked up from my place on Friday, 19 June and I was to be notified at each stage of repairs with an ETA. There were visible watermarks on the headliner and I'm unsure whether or not there is additional damage. I was told that they've taken it to a VW approved panel-beater to replace the panel between the windscreen and sunroof - as I'm writing to you, the vehicle MAY be returned to me on Monday, 29 June 2020 . I use the vehicle for both personal and work purposes and have lost a week's worth of work due to this inconvenience not caused by myself. I have reiterated this fact at the buying stage of the vehicle as well as when the vehicle was kept for repairs the first time. This is surely falling on deaf ears or I'm just another customer - me constantly contacting the dealership for updates and not the other way around is proof of that.
