Rings with mother of pearl inlay

Purchased a ring at the Canal Walk branch: Friendly staff, good service and an interesting variety of items available to purchase.

A few months ago my mom purchased a pretty ring for me, with a pink mother of pearl inlay - unfortunately the inlay does not seem to withstand normal, everyday duties.

A few weeks ago I noticed that a tiny portion of the inlay began to change colour (light pink to brown), and there seems to now be a “chip” or small “hole” where the discolouration began.

After contacting the company I was told there is unfortunately no way of repairing the inlay and this is most like lying due to a hard knock damaging the resin.

I can’t say I can remember working that hard with my hands, however, I do feel if you decide to purchase one of these pretty rings, my suggestion would be to only wear it as a dress ring on specific occasions if the resin is so easily damaged.

My hands don’t spend a lot of time in water or obscure chemicals; the only thing I can think is that regular sanitiser use could have affected the resin somehow.
