Did Harry's Auto Services get the cleaner to work on my car?

Last year August my 2005 Renault Clio’s gearbox went. My car was towed to Harry’s Auto Services.

After a month I received my car back which was badly leaking gearbox oil. I took it back to Harry’s Auto Services end of August. They had broken the one "CV Joint" when they put the gearbox back and this was added to my account as well, after I had already paid R13 000-00 for a reckoned gearbox. I asked Nico (who I usually dealt with) why my car was creaking so much - to which he rep**** with a straight face – “Not all the bolts were fastened.”

End of September the gearbox was still leaking oil. I was told that the breathing intake pipe went “missing” which they had to order from Renault. Nico tried to convince me the pipe disintegrated and that is why the car started leaking oil and the gearbox broke. I bought my car new. It has never leaked oil. That was added to my account as well.

Middle December my gearbox was still leaking oil. I stopped at Harry’s Auto Services and Nico told me a "bolt" by fifth gear was not fastened properly which he "corrected".

Two weeks ago I hit a speed bump I didn’t see. The engine made an alarming sound. I thought it was the exhaust so I went to Hi-Q who referred me to Noise Boys. Early Saturday morning I went to Noise Boys who told me my engine was hanging skew. On the mountings was missing.

Renault Fountains was the only open workshop. They offered to have a look. The technician was horrified. The one gearbox mounting was not replaced. Therefor the engine was hanging skew with gearbox oil leaking pressing down on the battery. According to the Renault Technician the car could have caught fire.

He also discovered that the air intake pipe was fastened with staplers and tape. It was hanging in drags all over the engine and could have caused a lot of damage had it gotten into my cam belt they told me. The Renault Technician made me take photo's of the missing gearbox mounting and the air intake pipe filled with staplers.

I asked Renault to look for the oil leak on my gearbox.

The seal cover by fifth gear - not the bolt like Nico tried to convince me – was not replaced like it should have been done as standard with a reckoned gearbox.

Also the sump was cracked because it was not properly fitted when they replaced it. This now also needed replacement.

Every time I went back to Harry's Auto Services, Harry completely ignored me, or backed up back into his office.

The total damage to my car ended up at R23 000.
