Nightmare rental experience
My partner rented from them at first and when the lease was coming to a close we decided to rent from them together as he (my partner) had a great experience with them. They asked us would it be possible if my partner could move out a month earlier from when the lease actually ended as they had someone who wanted to move in immediately (mind you this was a week before we had to actually move). Having full time jobs and me being disabled we tried to get the place ready as much as we could. It was clean, we just wanted to wipe off a few areas but they literally came there while we were still busy. They then charged us about R3000 to clean the place (guys I am a clean freak, the place was not dirty).
We then got to the new apartment which we couldn't view prior to moving in because the pandemic or go with to receive the keys but they new tenant of the previous place could accompany the agent to receive their keys. (We also found out afterwards that Harcourts at the time only managed the property but it was owned by @rentals but owns it now). We walked into the new apartment, it was infested with ****roaches, they put bombs off either that morning or the previous day that are for big corporate/industrial buildings. I have asthma & I'm disabled and have an extreme phobia for insects beside having PTSD. The apartment was filthy they my entire extended family had to all come over and clean as none of our furniture could be moved in. We also could not breathe in the apartment because of these bombs which was ineffective extremely poisonous as I had a 2-3 asthma attacks a week for 2 months, no one could sit for more than 10mins in the apartment, we had to go and live with my mother. We then hired a rentokil to treat the place as it was that infested, they then informed us that the boms used were very dangerous & when they use these bombs the buo****s need to be vacated for 1-2weeks, yet they moved us in almost immediately. PS. we had to pay for the fumigation. Thue did tell us that the owner manages the maintenance for this property but then it is Harcourts Dunn's job to speak to the owner as our contract is with them and our rentee rights are being violated.
Then we had water meter issues, a major pipe burst and our water just shutting off after we add credit, if it happened over a weekend, we were told straight by management that thue can only help us after weekend (I am disabled, bathing is essential for me, but that did not worry them). Once that was sorted after months.
They are renting out the property above us, it's covid we work from home, yet they is full on construction happening above us, like drilling as though it happening in our apartment, we weren't notified that there would be any disturbances NOTHING WHATSOEVER. I am extremely disgusted and disappointed by their service.
