Harcourts with no sense of humanity

When I approached Harcourts Dunn as a newly single mom I was very clear on my requirement of a safe, secure, residential environment for myself and my young daughter. An appartment was recommended to me in a secure estate. After entering a lease agreement and taking accommodation, 100 students were placed into the complex. I was challenged with a lot of noise, vulgar behaviour, reckless drinking, partying and with a result am enormous amount of stress and anxiety. I reached out to my agency after countless sleepless nights, stress and anxiety and all they have done was push the blame onto the owner and property managers (whom with I had no contractual agreement). When I saw that the situation was not getting any better and this environment was unsafe for myself and my daughter I enquired with Harcourts about terminating the lease. They responded to my query by confirming that this is seen as early termination and a full penalty will apply. While I understand contractual agreements, I also understand human rights and treating customers fairly. I did not early terminate, myself and my daughter were forced out of our home as it was unsafe. Further to this, in an already stressful pandemic which has placed a lot of psychological and financial stress on us all, I was forced to find other accommodation and find finances for another deposit. Harcourts could not be human enough to in any manner try to assist in reducing the penalty amount. What was marketed to me was not what I was provided with. Also, by law and by contract, Harcourts should have paid the balance of my deposit within 7-14 days which they did not, thus the second time they have broken contract with me, yet I am faced with a penalty for "breaking contract". I felt bul**** by this agency as a young female of colour as whenever i raised concerns and issues with them, they proceeded to tell me about my "tone of emai" or "attitude". During my lease, I have also raised issues relating to ****oroches and insect infestation on the property due to dirty water in the complex, to which Harcourts simply put the ownership on the owner and did not assist me in getting the matter resolved. Definitely not an agency i will recommend!
