Harcourts treating tenants unfairly!
If I could give zero stars I would. I have waited 16 days for my deposit to be paid and the only times they followed up with us was when my husband had to ask the whole time. They already had tenants to full our spot but yet they still charged us a whole months rent where we were told they will only take off the days before the other tenants pay their forward amount as they could only move in Sept. But yet they made it our problem and charged us. the time we told them we are moving they did not even start looking for tenants they only started a few weeks after but now we are liable for their fault as they could of found someone immediately. We also painted the house and cleaned it we spend over R2000 from our own budget to do so and then they still charged us a cleaning amount of R950. There were wear and tear from the kitchen kickplate that they stated it was wear and tear but yet charged us for the amount to fix it of R637. We have nagged them for about 5 months to fix our mould in the place but they had the excuse that the people at the top needed to fix their leek first, sorry how is that our problem? they had to figure out how to maintain our mould while the leakage was being fixed but they did not so. Over R2000 went to doctor fees because me and my children kept on getting sicker and sicker, you don't see them paying that do you! We logged the broken stove 3 months ago and guess what they only fixed it when we moved out. What about safety rules and obligations? They did not seem to take that part of the CPA law seriously now did they. I spend more money fixing this place or trying to stay healthy then there sorry excuse for a returning deposit of R1 400 yes that is the amount we got back only R1 400. I am all for paying what I owe but our contract ended and nobody came back to us to ask would you like to extend the contract or move out no yet again my husband had to start the conversation. We then asked for a month to month as our new place was not ready yet but no new contract was arranged and if our lease ended like its done why do we have to give notice if it was their responsibility to give us a new contract ours ended but yet we did the right thing and we gave notice we were unfortunately 4 days late yes 4 DAYS instead of giving us a late penalty fee they charged us a whole month. They also breached contract by not looking after the place or attending to our needs we had to nag for but hey they can take all our money. If you want to insure yourself losing money then please go ahead and join Harcourts. https://www.harcourts.co.za/ but if you would like fair agents then please choose anybody else as I did not have these problems with anybody else. Why spend R2000 on painting the place and getting it cleaned if they would anyway just charge us for paint and cleaning. The arrangement was if anybody else takes the place before the end of Aug then we will only pay the days when there was nobody that means no tenants not tenants that move in Sept because that is not our problem that they started looking so late a week after and then only found people who will only be available September. Those tenants are suppose to pay forward not taking our whole deposit as well!!! You made me live in mould and unsafe circumstances for more than 5 months we had to nag and now now you take more than half our deposit we could not even pay our paint off because you gave less then what we spend to fix the place!!!! Andrea Lambrechts I am very dissapointed in Western Capes Harcourts and to see the reviews on hallo peter to see most is 1 star is not even shocking to me!!
