Reception and Housekeeping leave much to be desired!

I have been going to Happy Wanderers for decades, but never have I been so disgusted or disappointed , and needless to say we will not return. My 72 year old husband went to sign in at 13h45 and was told to please sit and wait until the keys had arrived. At 2pm he asked them when he could be handed the key, the receptionist leaned over and gave him the key. It had been there all the time, but she made him sit like a naughty child and wait until 2pm because their policy says you can only get your key at 2pm. My husband felt so belittled and humiliated. Next up is the filth of the cabanas. On arrival there was a pile of hair sitting in the corner of our shower, which was still there 5 days later when we left. The shower was full of mildew on the floor tiles, which cold be rubbed off with one's toes - thus showing now effort had been made to clean the shower. It is the 1st self catering unit we have even been to, and we have traveled extensively, that does not supple dishwashing liquid, a dish cloth or scorer - this is also not stated in the booking, so needless to say you have no choice but to buy these items from the shop at triple the price. The beds are also not tidied which was also a first for us. Housekeeping sweeps and mops the floors - half heartedly - as the grease dripped from the grid of the braai was never cleaned off the veranda from day 1. The braai grids are not cleaned ( my husband asked and he was told it would be done later, but later never came), and the braai was cleaned half heartedly. The head of housekeeping came to ask if we knew our neighbors, as there were 2 towels missing. We were amazed that she found the time to chat to us(even if only because someone stole 2 towels) as we never walked past the housekeeping office without seeing the 2 managers sitting smoking instead of checking up on the housekeeping. The doors on the kitchen doors were all bubbling, peeling and skew. We could see into the cupboards due to the doors being so skew. The stoves plates left your hands black and we could see exactly where the stove doors had been wiped as they were full of grease marks. The spare room fan never worked, nor did the light - all things that should be checked and reported by housekeeping. The restaurant staff, food and service was amazing, although a little pricy, such a pity they are so hugely let down by reception and housekeeping. My husband did ask the housekeeping manager to get the resort manager or owner to come and see him, needless to say this never happened and therefore this is the result. All in all, our much looked forward to holiday was very disappointing and needless to say we will never return to place I have frequented since a toddler, for many decades. How sad!
