The horrible happy Rhino Hotel

I need help to somehow get this “hotel” reprimanded for their false advertising and their lack of care for people like me who genuinely need an affordable place to stay in the beautiful Cape Town for non leisure purposes.

I had an urgent trip and my stay was 2 weeks, I booked in a hurry and booking on a reputable site Booking.com I didn’t expect such horror. The happy rhino should first not be called a hotel because they do not meet the standard, from the moment I checked in it was bad service. They couldn’t find my booking, then they force you to pay an additional deposit on arrival after you’ve paid the full amount for the entire stay?. Then they hand you “fresh towels “ that you have to carry up with all your luggage. Difficult lift to open, tiny corridor and you get to your room, ??? you are never ready for what you’ll find. I’d taken a video which I wish I could post somewhere but even that wouldn’t do justice to the experience because you cannot smell the room on the video, you walk into this matchbox room that smells of smoke (I’m a non smoker) I immediately felt my chest closing up. The bed was not done, there were no pillow cases on those filthy filthy sweaty pillows ?? the room was freezing, no blankets, the duvet is dirty with what looked like tiny blood stains and it was thin. The shower and toilet are in the same room, I wish I could describe it properly but it’s a whole mess, when you shower there water everywhere and it’s an extreme sport to try not to fall.

Prior to getting there I’d asked what they provide in the room and they confirmed they have all you need, I checked in at 22:00 and got to the messy room at 22:45 and they had nothing in the room except a bed, dirty linen and built in cigarette burnt “shelves” . It is really noisy right through the night, no order, doors banging right through.

I checked out in the morning and expressed my disappointment and they didn’t care, even getting my deposit back was a mission.

Please help unsuspecting victims who might book this place by mistake.
