Shamelessly False Advertising

Horrible place. My wife booked a specific room, paid for a specific room and received proof of payment for a specific room. When we checked in and went up to what we thought was our one bedroom apartment unit by way of a dark and claustrophobic hallway we opened the door to find what they call a "pod": basically a sad hole with an unfortunate looking bed, some wires where I presume a television should have been, a peephole window with a lovely view of an adjacent building which I probably could have touched were I to stretch my arm out far enough. Some rather dubious stains decorated the walls. We then inspected the bathroom: no mirror, a sad looking wc and a stained bathtub. We went down to ask wether there might have been a mistake as we had booked an entirely different type of room with a rather lovely view. The receptionist was adamant that we were in the correct room, even when provided with more than enough proof to state otherwise. The receptionist started taking a rather snotty tone with me at which time I became rather upset and demanded to speak to the manager. Eventually she came down and asked what the problem was and the whole situation was explained to her. She was at least friendly, but was not entirely able to explain adequately why we could not get what we paid for, save for blaming the booking agent. Her one suggestion was that we perhaps try another hotel, nothing was said about a refund or actually giving us what we paid for. Then we were offered a "double room": basically the same as the sad hole with the view of the adjacent building, only this one had a tv the size of my phone and a mirror in the bathroom with the stained bathtub. We then enquired whether a one bedroom apartment unit was available, which it was and asked to see it. Still not the unit which we had booked, but much better than either of the sad holes. We were given the option of paying up to upgrade to said room, which we opted to do. There were still mystery marks on the walls, but at least we had enough room to change our minds, a kitchenette with badly fitted cabinet-doors (one of which came unhinged), a well used couch, a dinette set with a name etched into the top, a plasma stand missing two doors and a number of other quirks adding some personality to our unit. Let me put into perspective why we were upset: the room which we had booked had a corner couch, a beautiful bedroom, a beautiful bathroom, a beautiful kitchenette. It had beautiful city views. Which we paid for, but did not get. Client service was paltry. But at least we had lovely hot water.
