I Fatima Smous write to express my serious concerns regarding the conduct of Hannes Gouws and Partners Attorneys in relation to a property transaction that took place in 2024. I purchased a repossessed property in Akasia, The Orchards, wherein Standard Bank appointed Hannes Gouws and Partners as the transfer duty attorneys.Nelly Kraai from Harcourt Property was my agent.

During the process, I encountered significant difficulties in obtaining necessary documentation, specifically the house plan. Despite my requests, I received inadequate assistance from the attorneys, ultimately forcing me to seek alternative means to acquire the document. I was compelled to borrow R35,000 from a loan shark to pay an architect to draw up the house plan.

As a cash buyer, I believe I was left vulnerable and was taken advantage of, resulting in significant financial hardship. I am currently experiencing severe financial difficulties and, as a consequence, undergoing psychological therapy.

I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated, and I would like to explore options for recourse. I believe it is essential that the actions of Hannes Gouws and Partners Attorneys be reviewed to prevent similar situations in the future.
