Poor Workmanship and Big Mess To Clean Up After
I have had nothing but hardship and frustration dealing with this company and its staff. To provide a clear picture, let’s go back to the start of 2024. Following storm damage to my house, several fascia boards fell and broke. My insurance company appointed Hannes Bouwer & Associates to assess the damage and carry out the necessary repairs.
On the day of the repair, the team rushed to finish their work as it started to rain. This haste left my property in a complete mess. They failed to clean up rusty nails scattered in the grass, which posed a serious hazard, especially when mowing the lawn. Paint had dripped all over the pavement, and no precautions, such as drop sheets, were taken to avoid this. I had to escalate the issue to have them reluctantly return the following day to clean up after themselves—a situation that could have been entirely preventable had they been more careful in the first place.
Fast forward to the end of this year, the paint app**** to the fascia boards is now peeling and creating a mess in my garden. This is not normal, as the original fascia boards, which are much older, are not experiencing any similar issues. It’s evident the problem likely stems from their initial rushed work, as they painted the fascia boards in the rain.
When the team returned to address their earlier mistake, the results were again subpar, leaving me to clean up after them. Instead of removing the fascia boards to sand and repaint them properly, they decided to sand them in place, on my roof, without using drop sheets to catch the debris. When I raised my concerns about the inevitable mess, I was assured they would clean up thoroughly.
However, once they finished and left—without even asking me to inspect the work—I discovered paint flakes scattered everywhere: in water bowls, planters, pots, the grass, and across my yard. The scale of the mess is staggering and will take hours to clean. When I reached out to the team about this, I was told they had “cleaned as best as they could,” which apparently amounted to one hour of effort. In contrast, I am now faced with many more hours of cleanup for something that should never have happened.
When I attempted to contact the owner directly, I was blocked on WhatsApp and my calls went unanswered. The person in charge on the day of the repair dismissively told me to clean up myself and bill them later if I had concerns—an unprofessional and unhelpful response.
I generally don’t mind cleaning up minor messes after repairs, but this situation is far beyond reasonable. The cleanup will take half a day of my time and was entirely avoidable had the job been done properly.
I am appalled at the poor service from this company and cannot, in good conscience, recommend them to anyone.
